Childcare/Preschool


Center Information


St. Mark’s Child Care & Preschool is DCFS-licensed for children aged two to six. The center provides a nurturing, Christian environment through small class sizes and a caring, qualified staff.

Mission Statement

To provide a child-centered child care and preschool that combines a caring Christian atmosphere with a strong developmental program. To encourage growth and development of the whole child – the physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual. This will be accomplished through structured learning activities and supervised play consistent with each child’s unique needs.

Childcare Program


St. Mark’s Childcare Program has three classrooms:
  • Discoverers: two-year-olds
  • Explorers: potty-trained three-year-olds
  • Investigators: four-year-olds

Each classroom teacher plans developmentally appropriate activities for each of the areas outlined by the St. Mark’s Childcare Curriculum Map.

A typical day includes:
  • Meals: breakfast/lunch/afternoon snack
  • Center time and small group discussion
  • Circle time
  • Art
  • Music and movement
  • Free play
  • Gross motor skill development
  • Nap
  • Bible verses and/or songs
  • Story time

Children enjoy a monthly “Bible Time” lesson conducted by a member of the St. Mark’s ministry team. The American Red Cross also visits the center on a monthly basis, providing health and safety lessons on a variety of topics.

Classroom parties and field trips are special treats for our students throughout the year.

Preschool Programs


St. Mark’s offers preschool programs for three- and four-year-olds. Each classroom teacher plans developmentally appropriate activities for each of the areas outlined by the St. Mark’s Childcare Curriculum Map.

A typical day includes:
  • Center time and small group instruction
  • Gross motor skill development
  • Circle time
  • Bible verses or songs
  • Snack
  • Free play
